Our Story

In 2020, Men and Jesus started in our board member, Dr. Chris Cook’s, backyard. The Founder, JR Slaughter, was a single dad raising his daughters full-time over the past ten years and felt a calling to support men who might be struggling to live in the Spirit. In 2023, God led JR to fully commit to this mission and transform Men and Jesus into a nonprofit organization focused on uniting men with Jesus while bridging the gap between East and West Louisville and supporting single dads. In January 2024, Men and Jesus officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

How We Serve

At Men and Jesus, we are dedicated to empowering men through meaningful connections and transformative experiences. Our approach is rooted in fostering strong relationships, reflecting the relational nature of God as demonstrated through the Trinity. Bringing men, from diverse backgrounds, together through Connecting Dinners, Triumph Tribes, and Serving Initiatives. Through these efforts, we aim to model God’s love and grace, inspiring men to embrace their roles as spiritual leaders in their families and communities.

Bringing men from diverse backgrounds together to connect over a meal with Jesus and one another. Our Connecting Dinners offer a unique opportunity to build relationships and deepen faith through fellowship, food, and meaningful conversations.

We offer community, hope, love, mentorship, prayer, and support to single dads, recognizing their vital importance in the lives of their children and families. Our goal is to help these men embrace their value as spiritual leaders in the home.
